Storytime with Mr. Archuleta

The teacher of the month was recently awarded to Mr. Archuleta, PHS’s graphic arts teacher. Mr. Archuleta is the head of the Graphic Communications Academy (GCA), a subsection of the Creative Arts, Media and Design (CAMAD) program. As a popular teacher among the students and generous supporter of the Chronicle, we were curious to learn more about Mr. Archuleta’s experience in high school and asked him for a memorable story from when he was a teenager.

“I was on the cross country team for most of high school, starting my freshman year. Because I was always clowning around and goofing off with the other students, the coach would get mad and make the team run longer distances every day, which, as you can imagine, made the team really mad! So the seniors devised a plan and would throw me in the pool after practice, as punishment. Looking back, I must have been very annoying! It’s funny to think about now because I mellowed out a little as high school went on. I loved cross country because it kept me in shape and I loved getting into the mode of running; only runners would understand how amazing that feels.”
